BEGINNER CURRICULUM
Beginner lessons build a solid foundation for new English learners to insure their literacy and communications success. These lessons introduce essential concepts such as the alphabet, phonics, sound/symbol correspondence, word recognition and pronunciation, and basic spelling skills. The simple to use interface, combined with native language support, permits even new computer users to begin learning English using OpenBook quickly and easily .
INTERMEDIATE CURRICULUM
Intermediate lessons build on the skills learned in the beginner lessons, reinforcing basic concepts and helping learners to expand their vocabulary, communication and writing skills. Students gain confidence as they practice vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, and writing skills at their own rates. Comprehensive testing insures students master each lesson set before progressing to the next.
ADVANCED CURRICULUM
Advanced content chapters allow students who have already achieved high levels of English fluency to reduce accent, advance grammar skills, practice proper sentence construction skills and techniques, understand English idioms and daily conversation models, and expand vocabulary and writing skills.
PLACEMENT
Integrated assessments gauge each participant¨s learning style and skill level in vocabulary, grammar, listening, and reading. This makes it easy to determine a student¨s language and learning abilities for correct placement level within OpenBook English.
MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING SYSTEM
Powerful management system tracks students¨ progress and monitors their activities from the first day with OpenBook through completion. Instructors have access to detailed reports, tools to customize lesson plans, and student progress data. Instructors can record and transmit messages for student¨s to hear at a later time.
CUSTOMIZED PUBLISHING
OpenBook Publishing Tools allow you to create custom content for use in the OpenBook system. You can structure your own content (text, graphics, audio, video, language translations) so it can presented in the same rich media method as OpenBook Literacy Curriculum. For example, a school can load its own curriculum materials into OpenBook English and use the content to simultaneously teach students new subject matter and English at the same time.
